Fundamental Screener Guide

Learn how to use our comprehensive stock screener to find investment opportunities based on fundamental metrics.

Getting Started

The Fundamental Screener is a powerful tool that allows you to filter stocks based on financial metrics and ratios. Start by adding one or more filters to narrow down your search for investment opportunities.

  1. 1.Click the "Add Measure" button to select a metric to filter by
  2. 2.Choose a measure from one of the available categories (Profitability, Valuation, Leverage, etc.)
  3. 3.Adjust the range slider to set your filter criteria
  4. 4.View the filtered results in the table on the right (or below on mobile)
  5. 5.Add additional filters to refine your results further

Adding Filters

Filters allow you to find stocks that meet specific financial criteria. You can add multiple filters to create a custom screener.

How to Add a Filter:

  1. Click the "Add Measure" button in the filters panel
  2. A modal will appear showing available measures organized by category
  3. Click on a measure to select it
  4. A new filter card will appear with a histogram showing the distribution of that metric across all stocks

Multiple Filters:

You can add as many filters as you want. All filters work together (AND logic) - only stocks that meet ALL criteria will appear in results. Each additional filter further narrows your results.

Removing Filters:

To remove a filter, click the X button in the top right corner of the filter card.

How Histogram Filters Work

Histogram filters display the distribution of a metric across all stocks. The bars show how many stocks fall into each value range.

Understanding the Histogram:

  • Heights of bars: Show how many stocks have values in that range
  • X-axis: Represents the range of values for the metric
  • Shaded region: Shows your currently selected range

Adjusting Your Filter Range:

  • Drag the left handle: Sets the minimum value for your filter
  • Drag the right handle: Sets the maximum value for your filter
  • Click on the histogram: You can also click anywhere on the histogram to adjust the range
  • Reset: Click the "Reset Filters" button to return all ranges to their full min-max values

Range Information:

Each filter shows the minimum, maximum, and median values across all stocks at the bottom of the filter card. These help you understand the distribution of the metric.

Available Measures by Category

Tips and Best Practices

📊 Start Broad, Then Narrow

Begin with 1-2 key metrics that align with your investment strategy, then add additional filters to refine results. Too many filters may result in zero matches.

🔍 Understand the Metrics

Review the descriptions of each metric in the "Available Measures by Category" section above to understand what each indicator measures and why it matters for your analysis.

💡 Use Categories Strategically

Different categories reveal different investment insights:

  • Profitability: How efficiently a company generates profits
  • Valuation: Whether a stock is cheap or expensive
  • Leverage: How much debt a company is using
  • Liquidity: Whether a company can pay short-term obligations
  • Size: Market capitalization of the company

📈 Use the Histogram Effectively

The histogram shows you where most stocks fall. Look for interesting stocks that deviate from the crowd (e.g., highest P/E, lowest debt) by dragging your filter ranges strategically.

🔖 Save Your Strategies

Save your favorite screeners so you can run them again later and compare results over time. Use descriptive titles and descriptions.
